JOHN TANGEL, joined the firm in 2011 having sixteen years prior experience primarily representing institutional lenders in Mortgage Foreclosure Litigation. He has also represented numerous clients in Real Estate transactions, Landlord/Tenant matters, Title Insurance Litigation and General Civil Litigation. Among his accomplishments, Mr. Tangel successfully defended the appeal in the matter of GMAC Mtge. Corp. v Tuck, 299 A.D.2d 315, 750 N.Y.S.2d 93 (2nd Dep’t 2002), a widely cited foreclosure case. He is a graduate of Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, Touro College of Law (J.D., 1994) where he was an academic scholarship recipient; State University of New York at Stony Brook (M.S. 1989); and Long Island University at Southampton College (B.A. 1985) where he was an academic and athletic scholarship recipient, made the Dean’s List five semesters (1981-1985), was awarded the Southampton College Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award (1985) upon the nomination of former Dean and current U.S. Congressman Timothy Bishop, earned All Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference 1st Team & All-Academic Team honors (1985) and was named Captain of the Southampton College Men’s NCAA Lacrosse Team (1985). Mr. Tangel is admitted to practice in New York State, 1994; Federal District Courts for Southern & Eastern New York, November, 1994; Federal Court of Claims, 1999; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit & Armed Forces, 1999; and U.S. Supreme Court, 1999.
